About the position

The Videographer/Editor at Regent University is a full-time position that requires a skilled individual to capture and edit high-quality visual and audio content. This role involves working closely with the Producer to create national network quality multimedia packages that align with the university's branding and messaging. The Videographer/Editor will be responsible for operating state-of-the-art video cameras, lighting, grip, and audio production equipment, ensuring that all technical aspects of video production are executed to the highest standards. In this position, the individual will serve as either the primary or secondary videographer for various projects, recording and capturing video productions both on location and in a soundstage environment. The role requires a keen eye for detail, as the Videographer/Editor will need to monitor camera video levels, compose shots, and collaborate with the Producer and Director to achieve the desired project vision. Additionally, the individual will be tasked with editing 4K and higher resolution video, ensuring quality control throughout the production process, and exporting projects for delivery. The Videographer/Editor will also play a vital role in pre-production activities, including location scouting and maintaining creative partnerships within the video team. The position demands a proactive approach to troubleshooting technical issues and staying updated on industry trends and technological innovations. Furthermore, the Videographer/Editor will assist in managing and maintaining the department's video, photo, and audio equipment, ensuring that all assets are archived according to established processes. Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary or secondary videographer for video projects.
  • Record and capture national network quality location and soundstage video productions as a member of a production team.
  • Record and capture proper camera video levels by utilizing scopes and monitors.
  • Perform sequence composing shots while collaborating with the Producer and Director to capture different camera position setups to achieve project visions and consistent footage.
  • Identify, analyze, and operate lighting fixtures and grip equipment to achieve the desired look and complement a project's narratives and visual style.
  • Record and capture proper field audio levels and make timely decisions regarding proper microphone equipment and accessories as needed.
  • Edit 4K and higher resolution video, images, and accompanying audio in relation to the desired production goal.
  • Ensure quality control and assurance are met throughout each assigned project.
  • Export assigned projects for delivery and finishing.
  • Actively collaborate with video team members during project pre-production stages to establish and maintain creative partnerships within the department.
  • Attend and actively participate in location scouts for production determination needs alongside the Producer and Director.
  • Identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills on industry trends, equipment, practices, and new technological innovations related to all areas of production.
  • Maintain consistent Regent branding across all projects according to the designated delivery platform for the assigned project.
  • Assist in maintaining Marketing's photo, video, and audio equipment by performing regular inventory checks.
  • Manage and maintain video footage and project assets according to the video archival process.
  • Collaborate with student workers and graduate assistants.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or graduate degree in film, communication, or related discipline; equivalent work experience may be substituted in place of a degree.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional video experience.
  • A current portfolio highlighting quality of work is required.
  • Must possess an expert understanding of video/photo production, video editing, and workflow.
  • Experience with video production software such as Adobe Premier Pro is required.
  • Must be skilled in color perception with fine attention to visual and composition details and have the ability to color correct video as necessary.
  • Demonstrated competency with digital audio editing and mixing techniques.
