About the position

The VIE Financial Analyst position at Axens is designed for recent graduates or those in the process of completing their Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. This role is part of the International Graduate Business Placements (VIE) program, which lasts between 19 to 24 months and is based in Houston. The selected candidate will report directly to the FP&A Controller and will be responsible for providing financial and business assistance across various activities within the organization, including manufacturing, licensing, and capital construction projects. In this role, the Financial Analyst will collaborate closely with multiple teams, including Finance, Operations, Procurement, and Sales. Key responsibilities include supporting monthly reporting, conducting financial analysis, preparing ad hoc reports, and assisting in quarterly management presentations and annual budget preparations. The analyst will also be involved in the development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information to evaluate operating results in terms of profitability and performance against budget. The position requires the preparation of reports that outline the company's financial position on various projects, focusing on income, expenses, and earnings based on historical, current, and projected operations. Additionally, the analyst will assist in evaluating project progress, performing budget cost comparisons, and troubleshooting any issues related to project setup and budget costs to ensure accurate financial calculations. The role also includes assisting with month-end closings and job costing analysis, as well as preparing performance indicator reports to support business development efforts. Overall, this position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial analysis within a multinational environment, while contributing to Axens' mission of providing sustainable solutions in the energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial and business assistance to all activities of the organization, including products, licensing, and heaters.
  • Support monthly reporting and analysis, including ad hoc reports and quarterly management presentations.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Develop, analyze, and interpret statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results.
  • Review and report on entities' overhead and financial positions on projects.
  • Evaluate project progress status and perform budget cost comparisons.
  • Troubleshoot project setup, budget cost, and quotation issues for accurate financial calculations.
  • Assist in month-end closings and job costing analysis.
  • Prepare performance indicator reports to support business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field (in process or completed).
  • One year of accounting and finance experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including knowledge of medium to complex formulas.
  • Knowledge of SAP, Power BI, and HFM preferred but not required.
  • Intermediate to advanced English language skills (fluent to business level).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus but not required.
