About the position

The VIE - Research & Process Engineer role at Saint-Gobain involves supporting the development and implementation of new physical processes and digital tools. The position encompasses all phases of development, including pilot, scale-up, and implementation at the manufacturing site. The engineer will transform project objectives into actionable tasks, conduct research, design experiments, analyze results, and generate intellectual property and technical reports.

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead the technical transfer for research and development activities in all aspects of the STONEfacade team and new product development.
  • Prepare trial plans and provide technical support and assistance for trials, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new technologies.
  • Identify opportunities that could impact sustainability with innovative solutions and collaborate with R&D, operations, and technical teams.
  • Serve as a technical process expert in concrete science and formulation for the plant.
  • Develop and encourage innovation and Intellectual Property (IP) development, fostering IP development through the patent process.
  • Document and communicate projects, trial reports, and scientific developments.
  • Interact with raw material planners, purchasing, R&D, engineering, and site plant management to support supply chain forecasting and process optimization.
  • Design and run experiments, operate pilot equipment, and analyze experimental outcomes.
  • Manage lab safety aspects, equipment maintenance, and lab audit preparations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in chemical, Material Science, Polymer, Civil, or similar fields.
  • Strong technical background with an interest in product management.
  • Data analysis oriented with knowledge in digital tools for image processing and data analytics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Curiosity, creativity, and ability to think outside the box.
