About the position

At Gooseneck Implement, we are excited to offer a unique opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in agricultural technology through the John Deere Ag Technician Student - Virtual Program. This program is designed for those who are eager to gain hands-on experience while receiving education from Arkansas State University - Beebe. As a participant in this program, you will be hired with the intention of entering or receiving education that combines online learning with practical work experience in our service department. The program requires you to attend online classes one day a week while dedicating the remaining four days to working full-time at our dealership. You will receive guidance and mentorship from experienced professionals, including the Service Manager, Shop Foreman, and senior technicians. This dual approach ensures that you not only learn the theoretical aspects of agricultural technology but also apply that knowledge in real-world scenarios. Upon successful completion of the program, there is potential for a permanent assignment at a location outside of the store where you received your education. As part of your role, you will actively participate in various service-related projects, shadow experienced personnel, and perform basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment. You will also engage in required training programs to enhance your skills and knowledge, ensuring you stay current with John Deere and competitive products. Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to adhere to all safety regulations while completing your work assignments. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of your time and materials used during your duties.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in project assignments centered around service-related activities at the dealership.
  • Works at dealer location full-time while attending school online through Arkansas State University - Beebe.
  • Shadows selected personnel to gain experience in the service department.
  • Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products.
  • Participates in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
  • Accounts for all time on a timecard and for all material used in performing assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Meets the admission requirements set by Arkansas State University - Beebe.
  • Pursuing AAS Degree in John Deere Tech program.
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average while in the program.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures.
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment.
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
