About the position

At Gooseneck Implement, we are excited to offer a unique opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in agricultural technology through the John Deere Ag Technician Student - Virtual Program. This program is designed for those who are eager to gain hands-on experience while receiving education from Arkansas State University - Beebe. As a participant in this program, you will be hired with the intention of entering or receiving education that combines online learning with practical work experience at our dealership. The program requires you to attend online classes one day a week while dedicating the remaining four days to working in our service department, where you will receive guidance from experienced professionals including the Service Manager, Shop Foreman, and senior technicians. The role is centered around service-related activities, allowing you to actively participate in various project assignments that will enhance your skills and knowledge in the agricultural equipment sector. You will have the opportunity to shadow selected personnel, gaining valuable insights and experience in the service department. Your responsibilities will include performing basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment, as well as established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products. You will also participate in required training programs to further develop your skills and maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products. Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to follow all safety rules and regulations while completing your work assignments. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of your time and materials used during your duties.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in project assignments centered around service-related activities at the dealership.
  • Work at dealer location full-time while attending school online through Arkansas State University - Beebe.
  • Work with and shadow selected personnel to gain experience in the service department.
  • Perform basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products.
  • Participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Complete all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
  • Account for all time on a timecard and for all material used in performing assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Meets the admission requirements set by Arkansas State University - Beebe.
  • Pursuing AAS Degree in John Deere Tech program.
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average while in the program.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures.
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment.
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
