The e-Acute Virtual Med-Surg Nurse plays a vital role in the healthcare team, focusing on the management of care for adult or geriatric patients who are experiencing general medical conditions or undergoing general surgical procedures. This position is designed to provide comprehensive support to patients through various stages of their care, including admission and discharge processes, care plan development, and ongoing patient education. The nurse will be responsible for coordinating care and ensuring that patients receive the necessary information and support throughout their treatment journey. In addition to direct patient care responsibilities, the e-Acute Virtual Med-Surg Nurse will assist the primary bedside nurse by performing nursing tasks that do not require in-person attendance. This includes real-time quality and patient safety surveillance, which is crucial for maintaining high standards of care. The nurse will also be expected to mentor new nurses, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster a collaborative and effective healthcare environment. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum of two years previous nursing experience in med-surg.
  • Accountable and responsible for own safe clinical practice.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership abilities.
  • Exhibit valuable time management skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Active RN license in the state of Missouri.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days.
