The Virtual Designer position at Interstates Companies is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to engage in unique projects within a collaborative and family-like culture. The primary responsibility of the Virtual Designer is to lead the implementation of Virtual Design Construction (VDC) technology and processes, acting as a crucial link between the field, business units, and the corporate office. This role requires exceptional communication and collaboration skills, as the designer will be responsible for ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle. The position has the potential to be remote, offering flexibility to the right candidate. Interstates has a rich history of over sixty years in meeting the electrical and automation needs of companies globally. The organization has grown from a small electric company to a robust entity with over 1,000 employees across multiple locations in the Midwest. At Interstates, the team is considered the foundation of success, and the company prides itself on fostering a supportive and trusting work environment. The culture is described as family-like, where co-workers treat each other with care and respect, and flexible schedules are encouraged to help employees balance their personal and professional lives. Social activities and community support initiatives further enhance the camaraderie among team members. As a Virtual Designer, you will be tasked with carrying out electrical design pre-construction tasks efficiently while adhering to company standards. You will apply your knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) to prepare constructible electrical drawings and identify any constructability issues that may arise. Additionally, you will maintain the project BIM execution plan, coordinate all BIM modeling in Revit, and ensure that you stay updated on trends in the BIM field. Your ability to translate 2D drawings into comprehensive 3D/4D models will be essential, as will your understanding of creating accurate fabrication drawings based on various contract prints. You will also be responsible for estimating VDC resources, budgets, and schedules for assigned projects, as well as developing documents and practices to optimize project efficiency.
