About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Children's Health is focused on providing outpatient care in a school-based telehealth clinic setting. The role involves preparing patients for examinations, assisting with procedures, and performing various administrative tasks to ensure a smooth patient experience. The Medical Assistant will work closely with healthcare providers to deliver high-quality care to children and support the mission of making life better for children.

Responsibilities

• Escorts or transports patients to exam rooms, treatment rooms, or other areas as directed.
• Prepares patients for examination and treatment by gathering patient data, taking vital signs, height, and weight, and documenting this information in the medical record.
• Obtains past medical history and history of current illness/condition.
• Performs point of care testing as required for their position.
• Prepares clinic area by stocking rooms with appropriate medical supplies; disposes of medical waste and cleans and maintains laboratory and examination room equipment.
• Prepares examination rooms by arranging sterile instruments on trays and stocking rooms with appropriate medical supplies.
• Cleans and maintains examination rooms between patients.
• May be required to float occasionally to other Children's Health locations including Dallas, Plano, and TDH Clinica.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a patient care setting or completion of a Medical Assistant program.

Nice-to-haves

• MA certification acquired through an accredited program.
