About the position

Excelsior Classical Academy is seeking a dedicated Virtual Learning Educational Assistant (VLEA) to support students, teachers, and parents in a virtual learning environment. The VLEA will work closely with the Assistant to the Dean to facilitate effective online education, provide technical support, and assist students with their coursework. This role is essential in ensuring that students receive the guidance and resources they need to succeed in their studies while navigating the challenges of online learning. The ideal candidate will be tech-savvy, detail-oriented, and passionate about education, with a strong commitment to fostering a positive and engaging online learning atmosphere. In this position, the VLEA will assist students in navigating the virtual learning platform and accessing online resources. This includes providing one-on-one or small group academic support, such as tutoring and homework assistance, while monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers and parents. The VLEA will also collaborate with teachers to develop and implement virtual lessons and activities, assist in grading assignments, quizzes, and exams, and create and maintain online educational resources, such as study guides and instructional videos. Technical support is a critical aspect of this role, as the VLEA will troubleshoot technical issues related to the virtual learning platform and other educational tools. They will assist students and parents in setting up and using necessary technology, such as computers, tablets, and software, and communicate with the IT department to resolve technical problems promptly. Additionally, the VLEA will serve as a liaison between teachers, students, and parents to ensure effective communication and provide regular updates to the Assistant to the Dean on student progress and any challenges encountered.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in Education, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in a virtual or online educational setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency with virtual learning platforms (e.g., Canvas, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for common technical issues.
