About the position

The Virtual Machines Product Manager for Google Compute Engine will lead the development and management of infrastructure products, focusing on virtual machines and their integration within Google Cloud. This role requires collaboration across various teams to drive product strategy, roadmap planning, and business growth, ensuring that products meet the evolving needs of customers and leverage cutting-edge technology.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new capabilities for the VM instances including intercepting new technologies, roadmap planning, business growth forecasting, ecosystem, and customer adoption.
  • Manage product strategy for the VM family including the associated business outcomes and present to key leadership inside Google Cloud.
  • Work across hardware, software, research, and product teams towards long-term product goals, understanding competitive dynamics and industry trends.
  • Provide data-driven insights to prioritize engineering initiatives and maximize return on investment.
  • Define and drive go-to-market strategies for product launches, focusing on foundational Compute Infrastructure innovations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in product management or a related technical role.
  • Experience developing or launching infrastructure products or technologies within networking, storage, compute hardware, databases, file systems, data analytics, cluster management, and other software infrastructure areas.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Compute Engine, Data Center Technology, Virtual Machines, Servers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a technology or business related field.
  • Experience in compute architecture, data center infrastructure, CPU (x86/Arm) and I/O technologies, Cloud Infrastructure, Storage, with knowledge of the operational aspects of Cloud Servers.
  • Knowledge of different workload requirements and their demands on the underlying infrastructure.
