About the position

The Virtual Medical Assistant at HonorHealth plays a crucial role in enhancing patient care by serving as a liaison between patients, providers, and various healthcare facilities. This position involves responding to inbound calls, facilitating prescription refills, and assisting with non-urgent medical inquiries. The role is integral to the Clinical Resource Team, ensuring effective communication and support for patients while adhering to organizational policies and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to inbound calls from patients to facilitate prescription refills and assist with non-urgent medical questions.
  • Send communications to members of the patient care team.
  • Gather and document medical history under the direction of a provider.
  • Assist with virtual care activities, including medication refills and test result communication.
  • Prepare patients and charts for telehealth encounters and outpatient registration.
  • Schedule appointments and referrals to specialists.
  • Administer patient portal and authorize services, equipment, and medications.
  • Follow up on inbound requests with outbound communication to relevant parties.
  • Maintain provider schedules and perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assisting Diploma/Certificate from an accredited training program required.
  • 1 year of experience in a medical office setting required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous Medical Assistant experience within a Primary Care Medical Group Office.
  • Recent medication refill experience.
