About the position

The position involves providing documentation assistance during the triage process in a pediatric primary care setting. The role focuses on gathering and documenting essential medical information from patients, ensuring adherence to established protocols mandated by the medical board. This includes collecting data on the chief complaint, medical history, and other relevant health information to support the clinician's workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares for patient visit by reviewing patient record prior to it.
  • Verifies GAP Checker and ensures compliance with all metrics.
  • Alerts Medical Assistant about triage protocols and care gaps.
  • Establishes a conversation with the patient to accurately document in the progress note: Chief Complaint, HPI, Medications, Medical History, Allergies, Hospitalizations, Surgery, Family Medical History, Social History, and ROS.
  • Adds templates as required for HPI, ROS, Examination, and Well Visits.
  • Changes the status of the visit to ready for provider.

Requirements

  • Excellent skills to accurately and completely document patients' medical histories.
  • Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment.
  • Competence to work alone and in a team setting.
  • Thorough understanding of confidentiality and non-disclosure according to HIPAA standards.
  • Experience with medical terminology.
  • Excellent computer and phone skills.
  • Impeccable verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Willingness to make a one-year commitment to work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a pediatric care setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
