About the position

The Virtual Medical Receptionist/Practice Assistant at Spindle Health is a part-time, remote role focused on enhancing patient experience and ensuring the smooth operation of the practice. This position serves as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, inquiries, and administrative tasks while providing exceptional customer service. The role is crucial for maintaining a positive patient experience and supports the practice's mission of improving access to healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Patient intake, registration, check-in, and communications
  • Facilitating the exchange of information between multiple systems in a timely and efficient manner
  • Answering incoming calls from patients and clinical partners in a professional and friendly manner, and performing phone outreach as needed
  • Managing other clinical tasks as assigned by clinical care team members, including but not limited to prior authorizations for medications, refill requests
  • Maintaining and managing accurate patient records
  • Collaborating with the team to implement new processes and refine existing ones
  • Attending virtual meetings with staff

Requirements

  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to relate with patients and colleagues from diverse socio-demographic populations in a professional, empathetic manner
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently to solve problems within a set of guidelines
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a medical assistant or medical receptionist
  • Proficiency using AthenaHealth EHR
  • Extremely tech-savvy - demonstrated capability to adapt quickly to technologies (G-suite, Slack, Zocdoc, Phreesia, Aircall, Dockhealth, etc)
  • Access to a computer/laptop with reliable high-speed internet
  • Ability to properly triage problems per company standards and training policies
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without restriction
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Fluent in English

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience working in a telehealth setting
  • Experience with primary care practice
  • Proficient in medical terminology
  • Experience working in an early-stage, rapid-growth startup environment
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) Certification
  • EMT
  • LPN
