About the position

The Virtual Modeler Technician I position at Granite Construction is responsible for providing technical virtual construction modeling and drafting for active projects. This role involves generating 2D and 3D models and drawings, compiling survey data, and coordinating with survey personnel and project supervision to ensure quality assurance and control over projects. The technician will also assist in preparing data for automatic machine control and support communication among construction operations, designers, and owners.

Responsibilities

• Generate 3D design models and digital drawings for projects.
• Develop sketches and input materials for computer-generated graphs and civil engineering plans.
• Compile and process field survey data to produce as-built plans.
• Perform quality control on CADD data for surveying applications.
• Coordinate office work with survey personnel and project supervision.
• Prepare data for automatic machine control (AMG).
• Assist in quantity take-offs and prepare 3D models for estimation and bidding.

Requirements

• Technical degree in applicable field or 1+ years of experience preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD required.
• Experience in drawing and model management using ProjectWise.
• Experience as a civil drafter for heavy civil projects preferred.
• Familiarity with producing as-built drawings preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to understand technical drawings and plans.
• Advanced math and computer skills.
• Proficiency with civil drafting software such as Autodesk, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and Bluebeam.
• General civil construction knowledge and plan production experience preferred.
• Experience with Microstation Inroads, Open Road Designer, and Revit preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
