About the position

The Virtual Reading Room Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting radiologists within the virtual reading room. This position involves managing communications, assisting with patient documentation, and ensuring efficient operations to enhance patient care and the overall experience for radiologists and referring providers.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains appropriate patient history and documentation to assist referring physicians in ordering appropriate imaging exams.
  • Reviews reports and provides information to clinicians on reported studies.
  • Distributes critical radiology test results as appropriate.
  • Acts as liaison between radiologists, referring clinicians, technologists, and nursing staff.
  • Participates in a variety of internal clinical programs and conferences.
  • Assists in the proctoring program for physicians, tracking proctored cases and following up on communication and reconciliation of discrepant readings.
  • Responds to telephone calls to the radiologist, referring appropriate inquiries to the relevant individual and making follow-up communication as clinically appropriate.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new protocols, procedures, policies, and report templates, including writing and editing.
  • Oversees data collection for clinical trials and research studies, maintaining strict adherence to protocol requirements as required by the FDA.
  • Tracks SLAs and notifies radiologists of any studies that are approaching time limits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Health Science or certification (e.g., M.A., CNA, ARRT).
  • 2 years progressively responsible directly related work experience.
