About the position

The Virtual Reading Tutor position at Reading Partners is a work-study role focused on providing one-on-one tutoring to students, helping them master essential reading skills. Tutors will engage with students using the Reading Partners curriculum, either in-person at Reading Centers or online through a secure platform. This role requires a commitment to support students throughout the semester, ensuring consistent and effective tutoring sessions.

Responsibilities

• Commit to work for the entire semester to provide consistent support to students.
• Utilize the Reading Partners' curriculum to tutor and mentor students.
• Review student progress notes and prior assessment notes before each tutoring session.
• Complete progress notes after each tutoring session to track student development.
• Be punctual, attentive, and engaged during tutoring sessions.

Requirements

• Hold a high school degree or GED.
• Eligibility for Work Study through Texas Wesleyan.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn about tutoring strategies.
• Demonstrated patience when working with students.
• Ability to work independently or with limited supervision.
• Effective interaction with diverse groups of people.
