About the position

We are looking for a professional School Counselor to help students prepare for academic achievement, ensure career readiness and develop personal or social competencies through a comprehensive, preventive and developmental counseling program. The goal is to ensure that students will become productive and well-adjusted adults. The School Counselor will guide the development and implement a competitive school counseling program that focuses on and promotes students' success. This role requires valuing and responding to the diversity and individual differences of students, ensuring equitable access to opportunities and rigorous curriculum for all students. The counselor will provide direct support services through structured conventions, evaluate areas of strength (KSAOs) and advocate for students. They will also provide group or individual responsive services, collaborate and consult with parents, teachers, community organizations, and other stakeholders. Performing assessments, interpreting tests, and studying student records will be essential, as well as gathering and analyzing data to measure results and completing regular reports on progress.

Requirements

  • Proven working experience in school counseling

  • Ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse student pool
  • Working knowledge of various counseling models, practices and resources
  • Engaging interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to collect and analyse data
  • Computer literacy
  • Sound judgement and emotional intelligence
  • MA degree in School Counseling
  • Master's degree in counseling strongly preferred
  • Must hold a School Counselor certification or a preliminary authorization to work as a school counselor (with full licensure within one year)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years working in Guidance Counseling at the middle and high school levels
  • Proficient level utilizing and managing Google Workspace
  • Spanish Speaking (Required)
  • Possesses strong time management & organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively
  • Has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents, the community, and administrative staff
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and displays such between all stakeholders: being courteous, professional, and helpful
  • Possesses excellent communication skills: Oral (including presentations), Written, Interpersonal (active listening), Negotiating and Influencing
