About the position

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in a school setting is responsible for evaluating students' communication skills and providing therapy services according to individual plans of care. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure effective communication and compliance with established guidelines, as well as the development of treatment plans to address communication disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Assess students' communication skills to identify disorders and determine program eligibility.
  • Collaborate with various groups to communicate information and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate meetings and processes for eligible students, including testing and IEPs.
  • Develop treatment plans and educational materials to minimize the impact of communication disorders.
  • Instruct students in the use of communication technologies such as hearing aids and augmentative devices.
  • Maintain records including progress reports and treatment plans.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars for professional development.
  • Provide speech and language therapy to students to support their success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the state of assignment required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate as per contract or state regulation.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
