About the position

The Virtual Systems Administrator will support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Defense Stockpile Management System (DSMS) mission at Fort Belvoir, VA. This role involves managing and maintaining a VMware vSphere environment, ensuring security compliance, and supporting various virtualized systems and services critical to the agency's operations.

Responsibilities

• Support, administer, and maintain the existing VMware vSphere 7.x environment.
• Manage and troubleshoot VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi Hosts, vSAN storage, and Linux/Windows virtual machines.
• Maintain enterprise storage and VMware backup systems, including installation and ongoing maintenance.
• Support VMware server virtualization, virtual machine provisioning, ESXi Host server maintenance, security compliance, and daily operations.
• Manage the VMware server lifecycle for resource allocation, provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of hardware.
• Utilize VMware software-defined data center products and tools for troubleshooting, performance tuning, and reporting.
• Maintain the virtualized server environment through configuration, implementation, management, and support activities.
• Ensure security compliance in accordance with DoD Directives and guidelines (DoD DISA STIGs).
• Monitor the virtual server infrastructure environment health status, service performance, and utilization.
• Understand computer networking concepts and configure/maintain virtual networks.

Requirements

• 4+ years of related experience in IT systems administration.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent technical experience.
• Final Secret security clearance at start.
• Minimum of DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security + CE).
