About the position

The Virtual Systems Administrator at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) will support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in managing and maintaining the Defense Stockpile Management System (DSMS) at Fort Belvoir, VA. This role involves overseeing the VMware vSphere environment, ensuring security compliance, and managing virtual machine provisioning and maintenance. The position requires a strong background in IT systems and virtual environments, particularly with VMware technologies.

Responsibilities

• Support, administer, and maintain the existing VMware vSphere 7.x environment.
• Manage and troubleshoot VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi Hosts, vSAN storage, and Linux/Windows virtual machines.
• Maintain enterprise storage and VMware backup systems, including installation and ongoing maintenance.
• Support VMware server virtualization, virtual machine provisioning, ESXi Host server maintenance, security compliance, and daily operations.
• Manage the VMware server lifecycle for resource allocation, provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of hardware.
• Utilize VMware software-defined data center products and tools for troubleshooting, performance tuning, and reporting.
• Maintain the virtualized server environment through configuration, implementation, management, and support activities.
• Ensure security compliance in accordance with DoD Directives and guidelines (DoD DISA STIGs).
• Monitor the health status, service performance, and utilization of the virtual server infrastructure.
• Understand computer networking concepts and configure/maintain virtual networks.

Requirements

• 4+ years of related experience in IT systems and virtual environments.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent technical experience.
• Final Secret security clearance at start.
• Minimum of DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security + CE).
• US Citizenship required.
