About the position

The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) is seeking a Visiting Assistant Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Coach. This position involves assisting in the development, management, implementation, and advancement of a competitive intercollegiate men's and women's cross country/track and field program. The role is aligned with the philosophy, objectives, policies, and guidelines of NCAA Division II, the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), and the Department of Athletics at UIS. The coach will report directly to the Head Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track and Field Coach.

Responsibilities

• Teach and instruct advanced level skills, techniques, and game strategies for competitive play.
• Develop UIS men's and women's cross country/track and field student-athletes for successful competitive achievements.
• Assist in recruiting talented men's and women's cross country/track and field student-athletes.
• Prepare for practices, competitions, and team travel.
• Assist with fundraising, marketing, promotion, and community engagement for the program.
• Collaborate with athletic training staff, academic support personnel, and compliance staff to enhance student-athlete experience.
• Ensure compliance with NCAA Division II and GLVC rules, including submission of compliance forms and attendance at mandatory education sessions.
• Coordinate camps/clinics to increase local and regional exposure of UIS cross country/track and field.
• Attend GLVC, UIS, and Department of Athletics meetings; hold office hours; complete required training.
• Perform other related duties to support the department's strategic goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
