About the position

The Visiting Assistant Professor of Geosciences at Lawrence University is a full-time faculty position aimed at engaging undergraduate students in a liberal arts environment. The role emphasizes teaching, mentoring, and conducting research in geosciences, with a focus on geomorphology and related fields. The position is set to begin on September 1, 2025, and is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal. Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of geoscience topics including introductory geoscience, earth-surface processes, watershed hydrology, remote sensing, and GIS.

  • Conduct classroom and field-based teaching.
  • Manage a teaching load of two non-lab courses or one course with two lab sections per trimester on a 10-week calendar.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or ABD in geomorphology or a related field prior to the time of appointment.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
  • Ability to connect scholarship with teaching and engage students from diverse backgrounds.
