About the position

The Visiting Assistant Professor of Higher Education at Purdue University is a 9-month position aimed at engaging in scholarship and teaching within the Higher Education program. The role involves mentoring Ph.D. students, coordinating support services for a new Master's program, and teaching courses at both the Ph.D. and Master's levels. The position is set for an initial term of one year, with the possibility of extension, and is focused on preparing future administrators and faculty members in the field of higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in scholarship with Ph.D. students, serving as research mentor for student peer-reviewed research papers
  • Coordinate support services for the new Master's program
  • Teach a variety of courses in both the PhD and the new Master's program, 2 classes in Fall and Spring semesters
  • Guide doctoral students in their area of research and/or practice expertise
  • Contribute to and engage in service to the program, department, college, and profession.

Requirements

  • Hold a Ph.D. with a concentration in higher education or related field by the position start date.
  • A strong record or demonstrated potential of research productivity in peer-reviewed publications in high quality journals.
  • Ability to teach courses in both the PhD and Master's programs in higher education.
  • Ability to work in the US without immigration sponsorship from Purdue University.

  • Strong methodological experience in one or more areas of inquiry (e.g., single-case experimental research, randomized control trials, systematic literature review).
