About the position
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Texas Southern University is seeking to fill several full-time Visiting Instructor positions for one semester, with the possibility of renewal. The role involves teaching undergraduate courses, maintaining office hours, and engaging in scholarly activities and public service aligned with the university's mission.
Responsibilities
- Teach no more than four undergraduate DMS classes per semester.
- Schedule and maintain office hours for a minimum of 2 hours per class per week.
- Maintain and submit accurate student attendance records.
- Report non-attending students by the 12th day of the semester.
- Submit student progress reports by the advertised dates during the semester.
- Submit mid-term and final grades by the advertised dates during the semester.
- Perform other course-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Mathematics or a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required.
- Preference for candidates with working or teaching experience in Mathematical Sciences.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and practices related to education.
- Familiarity with various software packages and applications.
