About the position

The Visiting Instructor of Graphic Design/Visual Arts at Gardner-Webb University is a full-time, nine-month position focused on teaching undergraduate students in a Christian environment. The role emphasizes quality teaching and requires the instructor to engage closely with students while also contributing to departmental activities such as scheduling and advising. The successful candidate will demonstrate professional activity in graphic design and a commitment to the university's mission.

Responsibilities

• Teach Graphic Design courses at the university level, including basic, intermediate, and advanced courses, as well as layout and design, Color Typography, and senior portfolio.
• Arrange and supervise undergraduate art students.
• Assist in coordinating the scheduling and advising of Communication, Art, and Design majors.
• Provide academic and professional advising to communication, art, and design majors.
• Serve on committees as required by the department.
• Support the University and perform other duties assigned by the Department Chair.

Requirements

• Master of Fine Arts degree or equivalent terminal degree (Ph.D. preferred but not required).
• Record of successful collaboration and teamwork.
• Demonstrated ability to teach Graphic Design courses at the university level.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the Adobe Creative suite of programs.
• Evidence of sustained professional activity in graphic design.
• Demonstrated record of advanced professional work in the field or scholarly/creative research activity.
• Ability to organize and communicate clearly.
• Experience teaching and developing online/hybrid courses and innovative online pedagogy.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional mentoring in graphic design.
• Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working across disciplines.
• Evidence of professional development and scholarly productivity.
