About the position

The Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies at Brown University is seeking a Visiting Professor of Portuguese and/or Lusophone African Literature and Cultural Studies. This position is open rank and aims to enhance the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching one course during the spring semester of 2026.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment.
  • Documented experience teaching courses in Portuguese and/or Lusophone African literary and/or cultural studies.
  • A record of academic publications in one or more of these areas.
  • Native or near-native fluency in Portuguese and English.
