Langston University is seeking to fill three openings for the position of Visiting Research Scientist within the Sherman Lewis School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (LU-SLSAAS). This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about advancing research in the fields of animal science, veterinary science, and biology. The successful candidates will engage in various research projects that focus on internal parasitism control in small ruminants, meat science in ruminants, and animal nutrition and physiology in small ruminants. Each position will require a PhD in a relevant field and a strong background in conducting experiments, data analysis, and scientific reporting. For the first position, the focus will be on investigating the interrelationships between host animals and internal parasites, exploring alternative medicines for parasite control, and manipulating host immunity to reduce parasitism in goats. The second position will delve into general meat science, including the development, assessment, and processing of animal meat products, as well as improving meat quality through feeding or breeding strategies. The third position will concentrate on animal nutrition and physiology, specifically determining the conditions for conducting research with portable calorimetry systems in natural settings, and studying the effects of climate change on animal production. Candidates are expected to demonstrate their capabilities in conducting relevant experiments, handling data, performing statistical analyses, interpreting results, and preparing and presenting scientific reports. Collaboration and teamwork are essential, as the role requires working cooperatively with others in the research environment.
