About the position

The Visiting Research Specialist - Behavioral Health Initiative Coordinator in Educational Pathways at the University of Illinois Chicago is responsible for designing and delivering behavioral health training and research projects. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance educational pathways into the behavioral health field, addressing workforce shortages through grant-funded initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project partners to collect data on needs and demand assessment and develop potential new behavioral health training areas.
  • Work with university and college representatives to develop objectives and design projects to increase the number of new graduates in direct behavioral health practice.
  • Contribute to curriculum development for new degrees focused on skill development in behavioral health.
  • Prepare training materials and assist in writing proposals and findings for presentations and documents.
  • Collaborate with staff on methods and procedures related to behavioral health initiatives.
  • Conduct research evaluation studies and analyses, including data collection from the behavioral health provider community.
  • Develop and write comprehensive research protocols and monitor project developments.
  • Assist in grant and manuscript submissions and guide lower-level researchers and students.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD in social work, public health, instructional design, counseling, psychology, or nursing with a focus on behavioral health.
  • Minimum of 3 years related research experience in behavioral health agency administration or a university setting.
  • Experience as a professor, instructor, or educational program director teaching behavioral health content.
  • Two or more years of direct practice experience in behavioral or community mental health.
  • Experience working with underserved individuals and/or communities.
  • Advanced knowledge of applied research principles and methods.
