About the position

The Visiting Senior Research Specialist in Health Policy at the University of Illinois Chicago is responsible for advancing research expertise and organizational capabilities within the Office of Population Health Sciences. This role focuses on connecting user research to healthcare policy and innovative healthcare delivery solutions, overseeing projects from development to delivery, and performing complex study and data collection methods.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research projects and relationships through IHDD's Healthcare Policy practice.
  • Support one or more advising projects through research, strategy, ideation, and implementation.
  • Create research-informed thought leadership about Healthcare Policy and Practice Innovation.
  • Communicate research results and best practices in various forums.
  • Develop objectives and design research and data collection procedures.
  • Conduct research on policies and practices within Health and Human Services by connecting with experts and stakeholders.
  • Research state and federal grants to shape projects and research plans.
  • Structure healthcare and government agency projects in conjunction with current policies.
  • Evaluate current developments and research findings for applicability to projects.
  • Collaborate with IHDD leadership to develop a vision for the Healthcare Policy practice.
  • Lead creative ideation for projects with policy and grant-making components.
  • Prepare and communicate research results effectively.
  • Co-create a point of view about innovation in Healthcare Policy through various publications and presentations.
  • Model and encourage a culture of care and collaboration at IHDD.
  • Guide, train, and advise lower-level researchers and students on research techniques and methods.
  • Plan, assign, and review work of staff to meet group objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required.
  • A minimum of 5 years related research experience.
  • Possesses and applies advanced knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices, and methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in social science preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience in health care systems or policy development informed by research.
