About the position

The Visitor Experience Associate - Gift Shop and Merchandising at Buffalo Trace Distillery plays a crucial role in enhancing the visitor experience at the distillery's Visitor Center. This position involves managing gift shop operations, providing excellent customer service, and coordinating with management to improve retail and merchandising strategies. The associate will also engage with VIP guests and assist in training staff to uphold high customer service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist management with daily gift shop operations duties.
  • Fulfill staff work attire orders and create gift sets.
  • Handle donation and gift requests.
  • Model excellent customer service at all times.
  • Lead servicing of internal and external VIPs.
  • Coordinate with Visitor Experience Team Leaders & Management on assigned tasks.
  • Evaluate priorities and suggest new tasks to improve efficiency.
  • Assist management with training opportunities to boost team morale and KPI scores.
  • Serve as the eyes and ears for management regarding customer service standards.
  • Innovate ways to increase per person spend through merchandising and upselling.
  • Engage visitors and create a welcoming environment.
  • Ensure the Gift Shop is tidy and visually appealing.
  • Assist management with training and communication to Gift Shop Associates.
  • Take a leading role in Gift Shop cleanliness, organization, and inventory management.
  • Alert management when inventory requires reordering and assist with displays.
  • Develop knowledge of tour routes and basic content to assist visitors.
  • Provide Tasting Room support as a bar back and offer 'Tasting Only' experiences.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of merchandise utilized in the Tasting Room.
  • Input guest comment cards in a timely manner.
  • Ensure Happy Birthday cards are sent out monthly.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours (nights/weekends).
  • Must be a team player.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to project a professional image.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
  • 1 Year Experience in customer service or retail.
  • 1 Year Experience dealing with VIP guests.
