About the position
The B&O Railroad Museum is seeking an enthusiastic Visitor Services Associate to join our dynamic and dedicated team. The ideal candidate is customer service oriented, friendly, energetic, and responsible. This position is the "front line" of the museum in ensuring each and every guest to the museum has an enjoyable time. The primary goal of the Visitor Services team is to ensure our guests have a great experience, that the museum is providing the highest levels of customer service, working at the admissions counter and gift shop, and pivoting to support the daily operations of the museum and programming. We are hiring full-time and part-time positions at $16 per hour that can be for weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Typical shifts are 8 hours per day and schedules can be flexible.
Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming and cheerful guest experience at every interaction with our guests
- Support the Visitor Services team by being positive, professional, and collaborative
- Work a register through a POS system and handle money properly
- Assist visitors with finding gift shop items
- Manage gift shop inventory and stocking
- For ticketed programs, assist with checking in guests
- Perform daily opening and closing procedures for the museum and exhibitions
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- English fluency required
- Be on-time for all shifts to ensure visitors can access the museum
- Be able to lift and move up to 30lbs
- Provide excellent customer service and positive interactions within the team
- High school diploma or equivalent
