About the position

The Museum Visitor Services Coordinator at the Oklahoma History Center Museum plays a crucial role in enhancing the visitor experience by providing exceptional customer service and support for museum operations. This position is responsible for greeting visitors, managing inquiries, and assisting with ticketing and event coordination, ensuring that every visitor has a memorable and educational experience.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome visitors, providing information about exhibits, tours, and museum amenities.
  • Address visitor inquiries, feedback, and complaints promptly and courteously.
  • Assist visitors with accessibility needs to ensure an inclusive experience.
  • Assist in the operation of the ticketing system, including selling admission, event and class tickets, and memberships both online and on-site.
  • Manage the admissions/information desk and other visitor amenities to enhance the visitor experience.
  • Monitor visitor flow and suggest improvements to optimize the visitor experience.
  • Provide information about the museum's exhibits and special programs.
  • Assist in organizing tours and educational programs for visitors of all ages.
  • Coordinate with the education department to support school groups and special educational events.
  • Support the planning and execution of museum events, such as lectures, workshops, and community programs.
  • Work with the marketing team to promote events and visitor services.
  • Maintain visitor statistics and assist in preparing reports to help with strategic planning.
  • Manage visitor services supplies and materials to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and accessibility regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with ticketing systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in visitor services, customer service, or a related role, preferably in a museum or cultural institution.

  • Multilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Knowledge of history or museum studies.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $40,000.00 a year plus benefits.
