About the position

As a Visual Art Teacher for grades K-8 at Abrakadoodle, you will play a crucial role in fostering creativity and artistic expression among students. This position involves teaching art education classes at various partner schools, utilizing the award-winning Abrakadoodle curriculum. You will be responsible for implementing lesson plans that are student-centered, ensuring that each child has the opportunity to explore their artistic abilities in a supportive environment. Your role will also include preparing all necessary materials for classes, including art samples, and maintaining a gallery of student artwork throughout the school year. In addition to teaching, you will engage in continual communication with school directors, principals, and parents to build rapport and ensure a collaborative approach to student learning. Participation in the Abrakadoodle Annual Art Show is also a key responsibility, where you will select and display student artwork, showcasing their talents and achievements. You will be expected to attend monthly teacher meetings and participate in professional development activities to enhance your teaching skills and stay updated with the latest educational practices. Responsibilities

• Teach art education classes at partner schools for grades K-8 using the Abrakadoodle curriculum.
• Review curriculum, practice lessons, and prepare all materials, including art samples, before class.
• Maintain continual communication and build rapport with school/site directors, principals, and parents.
• Prepare and maintain the Abrakadoodle Gallery of framed art throughout the school year.
• Participate in the Abrakadoodle Annual Art Show by selecting and displaying student artwork.
• Attend monthly Abrakadoodle teacher meetings and participate in school professional development activities.

Requirements

• 3+ years of classroom experience teaching art to students in grades K-8.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Ability to follow an award-winning teaching system including curriculum implementation and student-centered learning.
• Ability to build rapport with students.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to work for the entire school year.
• Michigan teaching certification is a plus.
