About the position

The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is seeking a Visual Communications Designer (Marketing Specialist - Senior) to join our team. This position is pivotal in leading the agency's visual communications design efforts. Under the direction of the Communications Director, the designer will be responsible for developing a comprehensive set of branding and creative direction standards for all multimedia projects. This role will involve collaboration with various divisions within the agency to enhance understanding and capacity in utilizing these standards to create effective communication materials. The Visual Communications Designer will manage the video production process, which includes creative design, planning, capturing, and editing video content. Additionally, the designer will oversee the production of digital materials and work closely with forms management staff to ensure compliance with print material standards. A significant aspect of this role is to provide user-design and user-interface support for all multimedia projects, ensuring that accessibility requirements are met. This will involve training and supporting staff across the agency to enhance their capabilities in these areas. The position is based in the Prairie Oaks State Office Building in Madison, WI, with the potential for telecommuting, subject to operational needs and an approved telecommuting agreement. Responsibilities

  • Develop branding and creative direction standards for multimedia projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field.
  • Experience in communications or graphic design demonstrated through work experience or education.
  • Proven experience in designing and producing high-leverage communications materials such as presentations, brochures, and videos.
  • Experience managing the video production process, including design, planning, and editing.
  • Experience providing photography services for an agency or organization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience developing and maintaining branding and marketing guidelines for an organization.
  • Experience in maintaining UX and UI design for websites and intranet sites.
  • Familiarity with various communication tools to assist stakeholders in understanding initiatives.
