About the position

The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is seeking a Visual Communications Designer (Marketing Specialist - Senior) to lead the agency's visual communications efforts. This position is pivotal in developing branding and creative direction standards for all multimedia projects, ensuring that the agency's divisions can effectively utilize these elements to create impactful communication materials. The designer will be responsible for managing the video production process, which includes creative design, planning, capturing, and editing video content. Additionally, the role involves overseeing the production of digital materials and collaborating with forms management staff to ensure compliance with print material standards. A significant aspect of this position is to provide user-design and user-interface support for all multimedia, with a strong emphasis on accessibility compliance through training and support for staff across the agency. The Visual Communications Designer will work under the direction of the Communications Director and will play a crucial role in enhancing the agency's communication strategies. The position requires a blend of creativity, technical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various divisions within the agency. The successful candidate will be expected to develop high-leverage communication materials, including presentations, brochures, annual reports, and videos that effectively communicate the department's programs and policies to stakeholders. This role is essential for ensuring that all visual communications align with the agency's mission and branding guidelines, thereby promoting a cohesive and professional image for DATCP.

Responsibilities

  • Develop branding and creative direction standards for multimedia projects.
  • Manage the video production process, including design, planning, capturing, and editing.
  • Oversee the production of digital materials and ensure compliance with print standards.
  • Provide user-design and user-interface support for multimedia projects.
  • Train and support staff in accessibility compliance for communication materials.
  • Create high-leverage communication materials such as presentations, brochures, and annual reports.

Requirements

  • Experience with communications or graphic design, demonstrated by work experience or a bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field.
  • Experience designing and producing high-leverage communications materials.
  • Experience managing the video production process, including design, planning, capturing, and editing.
  • Experience providing photography services for an agency, organization, or business.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience developing and maintaining branding and marketing guidelines for an organization.
  • Experience maintaining UX and UI design for agency websites and intranet sites.
  • Experience using various communication tools to develop materials for stakeholder understanding.
