About the position

As a Visual Designer at Google, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the user experience of Google Maps through innovative visual design. Your work will involve crafting user-centered designs that integrate typography, color, iconography, and texture, ensuring that products are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing and accessible. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to gather insights and inform design decisions, ultimately shaping the future of Google Maps across both 2D and 3D experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve the notion of framework by collaborating with other leads to form a cohesive offering across Google products.
  • Work across programs to define, maintain, and evolve the tools, processes, and communication around asset management.
  • Leverage principal contributors to explore concept development to influence product, a point-of-view around visual style, and product commitments.
  • Advocate for Google products and their unique value proposition within an integrated Google ecosystem.
  • Partner with visual programs within our organization to evolve and apply new design styles and aesthetics for our suite of products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in product design or UX.
  • Experience implementing visual design systems across platforms in an iterative software development environment.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketch.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience leading design projects.
  • Experience in 3D Modeling and 3D Visualization.
  • Experience in Data Visualization.
  • Experience with prototyping.
