About the position

The University of Utah is seeking a part-time Visual Designer to join the Enrollment Marketing team within the Graduate Programs & Executive Education department. This role focuses on creating engaging visuals that align with the university's branding to enhance enrollment for graduate programs and executive education offerings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both print and digital design, with a particular emphasis on editorial and UX design, and will collaborate closely with the marketing team on various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design marketing materials, including print collateral, digital ads, social media graphics, and email templates, ensuring alignment with university and program branding.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create cohesive, visually appealing content across a variety of platforms.
  • Develop creative concepts that engage prospective students and alumni, enhancing the brand identity of our programs.
  • Assist with the design and coordination of program swag, including placement proofs, order approvals, and vendor communication.
  • Design and update printed materials and promotional items for events and outreach efforts.
  • Support the development of web and UX design elements for program websites.
  • Maintain a consistent design aesthetic across all materials, adhering to branding guidelines.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a graphic designer with a strong portfolio showcasing both print and digital work.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and other design tools.
  • Experience in UX and editorial design, with an understanding of layout, typography, and digital interfaces.
  • Strong attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with vendors, placing orders, and managing the production process for swag and printed materials.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly with remote teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education marketing or a related field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with web design, CMS platforms, and basic HTML is beneficial.
  • Passion for design trends, branding, and contributing to educational marketing initiatives.
