About the position

The Visual Effects Designer will play a pivotal role in shaping the design language and visual identity across The Studios. This position is situated within the Experience Design team, which is an essential part of the Strategic Operations department of the Studios' Technology organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving the visual design direction and developing a cohesive design language that resonates with Studio Technology, Disney, and our Studio brands. A strong understanding of how design influences audience perception and serves as a critical communication tool is essential for success in this role. In this capacity, the Visual Designer will leverage their design skills and passion to guide the design process effectively. The role requires a strong storytelling ability and a well-honed design perspective, allowing the designer to collaborate with the Experience Design team to bring narratives and value propositions to life through various visual presentations, artifacts, and templates. This includes graphic and visual design for both digital and physical applications. The Visual Designer will also contribute to refining and developing the brand and style guide, ensuring consistency and alignment with the overall brand strategy. The ideal candidate is expected to be creative, driven, detail-oriented, organized, and possess excellent communication skills. They will be tasked with translating complex ideas into effective design artifacts and graphics, developing brand identity elements, and ensuring that all creative aspects of projects meet stakeholder expectations and adhere to brand standards. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the brand while inspiring innovative design solutions that engage and delight clients.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for concept development for business segments within the Studios, translating complex ideas into effective design artifacts and graphics.
  • Develop brand identity elements, design standards, and style guides to ensure all creative aspects of a project meet stakeholders' expectations and our brand.
  • Ability to design and deliver all the necessary graphics, assets, (style guides, presentation templates, branding materials) and documentation for key project requests.
  • Build client presentations, with the support of the design team that delight and inspire our clients and align to our brand guidelines.
  • Must have the ability to present and articulate design direction, ideas, and concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with fellow designers (Visual, UI, UX, Product) to help evolve our design language and branding efforts.
  • Generate design work plans; accurately estimate work items and communicate dependencies and issues as necessary.
  • Participate in the development of the larger design team through dialogue, key initiatives, and collaborative projects (for example, tool and process research, template and pattern creations).
  • Inspire new ways of thinking and explore the unknown using fresh and unique approaches to design problems.

Requirements

  • Visual design with a strong portfolio showcasing brand work.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite including Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, and Figma.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with big global or national brands.
