About the position

The Visual Media Designer I position at the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR) offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the agency's mission of ensuring a safe working and living environment in South Carolina. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities centered around visual media production, including photography, videography, and the design of educational content. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for researching, recommending, purchasing, and maintaining the inventory of all necessary production and audiovisual equipment at the South Carolina State Fire campus. This position not only requires technical skills but also a creative approach to developing quality visual media that supports the agency's educational initiatives. In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will maintain digital signage across the campus and serve as an on-site IT support technician for classrooms. Your role will also involve managing and maintaining audiovisual technology for customers utilizing State Fire facilities, ensuring that all equipment is in optimal working condition. You will coordinate the repair and maintenance of multimedia equipment, ensuring that all resources are available for effective learning and training sessions. As a technical director for event programming, you will oversee live streaming, on-demand video programs, and business meetings, ensuring that all events run smoothly and effectively. You will also be tasked with creating digital assets for online courses, contributing to the agency's goal of providing accessible and engaging educational content. This position requires a high level of collaboration, as you will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that the visual media produced meets the needs of the agency and its audience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a photographer, videographer, and visual media designer to research, recommend, purchase and maintain inventory of all required production and audio visual equipment at the South Carolina State Fire campus.
  • Maintain digital signage on the campus.
  • Serve as an on-site IT support technician for State Fire campus classrooms.
  • Manage and maintain the audio visual technology provided to customers using State Fire facilities.
  • Coordinate the repair and maintenance of audio visual and multimedia equipment on the State Fire campus.
  • Responsible for the production plan, design, and development of quality visual media based on educational content.
  • Serve as a technical director of event programming to include live streaming, on-demand video programs, and business meetings for State Fire.
  • Create visual media digital assets for online courses.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Education Technology, Journalism or Media Arts and relevant program experience or a high school diploma and two years program experience specific to instruction and/or curriculum design.
  • Knowledge and skills in photography, videography, technology, web-based instructional development, program coordination and project management.
  • Proficiency in maintaining and utilizing audiovisual multimedia technology, authoring software tools and social media platforms.
  • Well-versed in various delivery methods for curriculum, including classroom, web-based and live virtual streaming.
  • Strong pre, during and post event production skill.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-centric environment.
  • Ability to interact professionally with the public and other agencies.
