About the position

The Visual Media Designer II position within the Office of Public Affairs (OPA) at the State of South Carolina is responsible for creating and managing visual assets, including video and photography, to support the department's communication efforts. This role involves leading photography and videography for various events, editing content, and ensuring a cohesive brand message across multiple platforms. The designer will also maintain equipment and manage project files, collaborating with various departments to meet visual communication needs.

Responsibilities

• Create visual assets for the Office of Public Affairs team, including video recording and editing.
• Serve as the lead photographer for all events and portraits, including preparation and execution of photo shoots.
• Edit photos with a quick turnaround for internal and external communications.
• Lead videographer for internal and external videos, including PSAs, responsible for script writing and storyboarding.
• Coordinate and oversee live streams of events, ensuring technology is equipped to handle needs.
• Maintain and organize OPA equipment and oversee inventory management.
• Manage organized file management of all projects, ensuring proper naming and organization of individual portraits.
• Assist with planning logistics and coverage for visual needs at events.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with relevant experience; an associate or bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for experience.
• Experience in capturing and editing video and photography, including professional portraits.
• Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro.
• Ability to collaborate and coordinate with multiple departments for project execution.
• Attention to detail, particularly in spelling and grammar within visual elements.
• Organizational skills to track multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with animation is a bonus.
