About the position

The VITA Mobile Team Site Coordinator is responsible for the operation of the free tax return preparation program (VITA) at various mobile sites. This position will work with the VITA Director and often be the primary staff person on site when mobile sites are open. The coordinator is also responsible for becoming IRS certified in federal taxes and having advanced knowledge of tax laws.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite supervision, support, and guidance to tax preparation volunteers
  • Ensure that adequate volunteer coverage, supplies, forms, and equipment are maintained at the mobile tax site
  • Monitor volunteers to ensure the quality review is being conducted and privacy is maintained
  • Support volunteers by answering questions, solving problems, and correcting errors
  • Work with volunteers and taxpayers to address returns that the IRS filing center has rejected
  • Attend tax preparation training and become certified at the Advanced level
  • Enter clients' information onto the Charity Tracker Account daily
  • Initiate and complete the Intake/Interview Quality Review form with each assigned taxpayer
  • Review all tax information for relevance, accuracy, and completion
  • Ensure compliance with federal IRS rules and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director/supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in preparing taxes
  • At least 2 years of experience with computer software and online tax software (i.e., TaxSlayer software preferred)
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid vehicle insurance
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in customer service, computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint), and basic math
  • Extensive working knowledge of advanced-level tax law and IRS guidelines
  • Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and able to work well independently and on a team
  • Professionalism in the workplace
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Clean driving record

Benefits

  • $18.00 per hour
  • Full Time/Temporary Position from January to April
