About the position

The VLSI RTL Design Lead Engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise is responsible for designing, assessing, developing, and evaluating VLSI components and hardware systems. This role involves driving architecture and logic design, conducting design verification, and building physical implementations of complex integrated circuits. The engineer will also provide technical oversight for multiple project teams, mentor less experienced staff, and contribute to the development of industry standards in VLSI design.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, assesses, develops, modifies, and evaluates VLSI components and hardware systems.
  • Drives architecture and logic design, and design verification through software for component and system simulation.
  • Builds physical implementations through the development of multidimensional designs involving complex integrated circuits.
  • Conducts experimental tests and evaluates results to enable prototype and production VLSI solutions.
  • Provides technical oversight and accountability for multiple project teams and engineers.
  • Develops organization-wide architectures and methodologies for VLSI design across multiple platforms.
  • Writes RTL using System Verilog and creates System Verilog Assertions (SVAs).
  • Reviews and evaluates VLSI designs for compliance with technology and development guidelines.
  • Mentors less experienced staff members and participates in the selection of future technical managers.
  • Identifies emerging VLSI technologies and assesses their impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Typically 10+ years of experience in VLSI design and development.
  • Management experience and mastery in electrical engineering fundamentals, VLSI concepts, digital logic, and computer architecture.
  • Excellent assessment and problem-solving skills.
  • Mastery over designing VLSI components, integrated circuitry, architectures, and algorithms.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting, hardware description language, electronic design automation (EDA), and/or FPGA tools.
  • Experience with Ethernet protocols, networking stacks, CPU or GPU systems, and high-speed peripherals.
  • Understanding of clock domain crossing concepts and experience with System Verilog Assertions and Assumptions.
  • Ability to balance power, performance, and area on complex designs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and local language.
