About the position

The Vocational Nursing Clinical/Lab Instructor is a part-time role responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in nursing labs and clinical settings. The instructor will develop course materials, supervise students, and ensure a positive learning environment while adhering to established educational standards. This position requires a commitment to student success and professional development in the nursing field.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct labs/clinical within the area of specialty according to acceptable standards.
  • Maintain proper discipline in class and on campus to further educational goals.
  • Record attendance and advise students of attendance requirements.
  • Administer written and practical tests and provide feedback to students.
  • Maintain up-to-date syllabus and curriculum for courses to be taught.
  • Make time available for student advisement and assist in career planning.
  • Update curriculum and test materials; recommend textbooks and learning resources.
  • Attend faculty meetings and provide constructive input.
  • Participate in curriculum development and evaluation for courses taught.
  • Attend various extracurricular activities within the program area as required.
  • Maintain expertise in the area of specialty by attending conferences and seminars.
  • Hold students accountable for meeting course and clinical expectations.
  • Direct and evaluate all students when performing initial nursing procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered Texas practical nurse/vocational Nursing License.
  • Actively employed in nursing for the past three years.
  • Varied nursing experiences since graduation.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and educational media equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Energetic and passionate about nursing.
  • Evidence of teaching abilities and current knowledge in the subject area.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in nursing education or training programs.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development processes.
