About the position

The position is for a Field Supervisor in the Department of Human Services, Rehabilitation Services Division, located in Montgomery County, Tennessee. This is a hybrid role that involves supervising a small staff providing professional vocational rehabilitation counseling services. The supervisor will monitor and address performance in achieving program goals and will be responsible for professional field supervisory work of average difficulty. The role requires the employee to conduct case reviews, ensure quality assurance for VR customers, and promote community engagement with diverse populations of individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervises VR field staff direct reports and conducts related performance management.
• Promotes Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) field staff cohesiveness through continuous education and team building activities.
• Provides professional development training to attract and retain highly qualified professionals.
• Reviews current policy and procedure to offer suggestions to Regional Supervisor regarding training needs.
• Conducts case review analysis to ensure quality assurance for VR Customers.
• Provides coaching and guidance to field staff and identifies trends and barriers to ensure delivery of person-centered, high-quality services.
• Reports and provides feedback to Regional Supervisor on caseload equity, program goals, objectives, accomplishments, and problem areas.
• Ensures community engagement to include diverse populations of individuals with disabilities by conducting program evaluation.
• Reviews scheduled reports to make data driven decisions to improve the quality of service delivery.
• Works with internal and external partners to identify barriers and develop solutions for complex issues impacting employment.
• Reviews and approves electronic case file documents and services for customers as completed by VR Counselors.
• Develops activities to ensure teams are embracing person-centered thinking and planning continuously.
• Assists the Regional Supervisor with strategic outreach plans to increase local community engagement.
• Collaborates with partners within DHS to ensure clear communication and seamless delivery of service.
• Promotes VR through reviewing, collecting, and sharing customer success stories.
• Reviews expenditure trends to ensure purchases and services are fiscally responsible.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree.
• Experience equivalent to four years in a combination of professional vocational rehabilitation and/or social services work.
• Completion of a criminal history disclosure form.
• Agreement to release all records involving their criminal history.
• Possession of a valid driver's license if driving is an essential function of the position.

Nice-to-haves

• Additional post-graduate course work credit in social and/or behavioral science may substitute for required experience.
• Additional qualifying experience in the vocational rehabilitation field as a supervisor may substitute for required education.
