About the position

The Communications Engineer will provide technical leadership in the design, documentation, implementation, and testing of communications simulation models and associated simulator hardware. This role requires advanced technical capabilities in communications systems within flight simulation and a deep understanding of software techniques used in the simulation industry.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, document, and support communications systems software.
  • Generate preliminary and detailed design documents, user guides, and acceptance test procedures.
  • Enhance or modify existing designs using current industry design concepts and technical writing skills.
  • Perform all phases of software implementation including coding, off-line testing, and documentation.
  • Assist and train lower-level communications engineers.
  • Present at customer and internal design reviews.
  • Participate effectively as part of the project team.
  • Oversee all phases of customer and on-site acceptance of communications systems.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the simulation or software development industry.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or ADA.
  • Knowledge of aircraft operation in both real-world and simulator environments.
  • Expertise in software techniques and computer languages used in the simulation industry.
  • Hardware/software integration skills.
  • Technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Analytical and mathematical modeling ability.
  • Familiarity with current software development methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with aircraft communication systems (e.g., ARC-210).
  • Experience with SAFe Agile methodology.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD 1553 interfaces.
