About the position

The Software Engineer role at CAE is focused on developing software models that simulate communications and audio systems for various aircraft, integrating these models into flight simulators. The position is part of the Voice Communications and Audio (VCA) software development team, which plays a crucial role in enhancing military training systems and ensuring mission readiness. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, participation in all phases of the software development life cycle, and the application of engineering principles to solve complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in a production team role in the deployment of training systems, networking, and interfacing with platform simulation applications.
  • Update and develop software support documentation as required.
  • Assist in the development of technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
  • Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts in software development.
  • Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software.
  • Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and testing of embedded software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Ability to obtain a DOD security clearance.
  • Excellent technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to support occasional overtime, weekend work, shift work, and site travel.
  • General computer skills including use of Microsoft Office products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Simulation or stimulation experience with VCA subsystems such as ARC-201, ARC-210, ARC-231.
  • Experience with Object Oriented Design and Programming.
  • Knowledgeable with MIL-STD 1553 interfaces.
  • Training system simulation experience preferred.
  • Experience with Linux Operating Systems, FORTRAN, Ada, and C++.
  • SAFe Agile Experience a plus.
