About the position

The VOIP Engineer will focus on the testing, analysis, and quality assurance of VOIP products and services. This role requires a deep understanding of VOIP protocols and extensive experience in testing methodologies to ensure high-quality communication solutions are delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute test plans for VOIP systems, including call flow, call quality, and network performance.
  • Create, update, and maintain regression test suites for applications to support various testing events.
  • Conduct test case review meetings with the team to define meaningful test cases for the backlogs.
  • Map tasks and tests to backlog items for requirements traceability.
  • Perform functional, regression, and performance testing on VOIP platforms.
  • Identify, document, and track defects and issues, working closely with the development team to resolve them.
  • Analyze test results to identify trends and potential areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure VOIP systems meet business requirements and customer expectations.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts for continuous testing and integration.
  • Provide technical support during VOIP deployments and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Support independent User Acceptance Testing.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in VOIP and telecommunications.

Requirements

  • Voice Telecommunications backend testing experience.
  • College degree (B.A./B.S.) in Business, Finance, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, Engineering, technical discipline or related field (equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of degree).
  • U.S. Citizen with a DOD Secret clearance or higher.
  • At least five (5) years of related experience with Voice equipment such as: Avaya, Ribbon, Nortel or similar.
  • Experience working with Ribbon, Avaya, Nortel and/or Cisco environments.
  • Proven experience as a VOIP Testing Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of VOIP protocols (SIP, RTP, etc.) and related technologies.
  • Experience with VOIP testing tools and platforms (Wireshark, SIPp, JMeter, etc.).
  • Familiarity with network protocols and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, UDP, etc.).
  • Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud-based VOIP solutions.
  • Knowledge of network security and encryption techniques.
  • Certifications in VOIP technologies or related fields (e.g., CCNA Voice, etc.).
