About the position

The Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator at United Way of Northern Utah is responsible for leading volunteer recruitment efforts, enhancing volunteer management practices, and coordinating outreach initiatives to strengthen community engagement. This role aims to build capacity for internal programs through effective volunteer engagement and support, ensuring a cohesive brand presence at community events. The coordinator will also facilitate the UWNU Outreach Committee and manage various operational tasks related to volunteer data and budget oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively engage with the community to recruit volunteers for various UWNU departments and programs.
  • Collaborate with UWNU programs to tailor recruitment strategies based on specific volunteer needs.
  • Develop and maintain a segmented volunteer database and implement a mass communication platform for volunteer opportunities.
  • Stay informed about community volunteer projects and refer volunteers to external opportunities as needed.
  • Create a volunteer retention process to ensure long-term success of recruitment efforts.
  • Establish a consistent volunteer management process to improve the volunteer experience.
  • Attend professional development opportunities and disseminate best practices for volunteer management.
  • Organize outreach event attendance and prioritize programs and services to promote at events.
  • Facilitate the UWNU Outreach Committee and oversee action items in the marketing department action plan.
  • Track volunteer data for reports related to funding and annual impact.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of administrative/office assistant work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including task and time management.
  • Associate's degree or 2-3 years of related work experience required.
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience utilizing volunteer management systems like Just Serve or GivePulse.
  • Familiarity with Canva for creating promotional materials.
  • Strong network in the Northern Utah community.
