About the position

The Volunteer Board Member position at Society's Assets is an unpaid role that requires CPA experience and a commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities. The board member will oversee financial stewardship, ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations, and supervise financial filings, all while promoting the mission of independent living for people with disabilities in the community.

Responsibilities

• Steward finances with ethical standards, including setting up controls for cash receipts and expenditures.
• Ensure appropriate licenses and permits are in place for nonprofit operations.
• Supervise financial filings, particularly ensuring timely submission of form 990 and other required documents.
• Recognize and oversee the confirmation of donations in compliance with IRS requirements.
• Review timely financial reports against the budget and understand commercial accounting software.

Requirements

• CPA certification is required.
• Experience working with people with disabilities is preferred.
• Proficiency in accounting software is necessary.
• Mid-level experience with at least 3 years in a relevant field.
