About the position

The Volunteer & Co-Sponsorship Navigator at Ascentria Care Alliance is responsible for empowering resettled refugees by connecting them to community services and facilitating their integration into society. This role involves building community participation, recruiting and managing volunteers, and developing partnerships with various community organizations to support refugee families. The position plays a crucial part in enhancing the impact of a non-profit organization focused on social services across New England.

Responsibilities

  • Reach out to new community groups and leaders to explore collaboration opportunities.
  • Initiate and execute small group meetings and workshops with community groups.
  • Support management of the Co-sponsorship Pipeline through all stages of the process.
  • Conduct co-sponsorship orientations and info sessions.
  • Provide feedback on co-sponsorship applications and assist groups towards a 'green light'.
  • Participate in discussions regarding Co-sponsorship Program evaluation and management.
  • Identify, develop, and refine volunteer roles in collaboration with SNA staff.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, orient, supervise, and evaluate volunteers.
  • Maintain regular contact with volunteers and coordinate appreciation events.
  • Solicit and collect donations for refugee families and maintain the donations room.
  • Track client and volunteer experiences and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Maintain volunteer database and ensure quality of casefiles.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four years professional experience, including two years related to community development or volunteer engagement.
  • Ability to effectively lead volunteers and advocate for process improvement.
  • Ability to work sensitively in a multi-cultural/multi-lingual environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid Driver's License and proof of automobile insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Basic knowledge of volunteer program management.
  • Language skills including Dari, Pashto, Nepali, Hindi, Rohingya, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic.
  • Familiarity with web-based databases/CRM systems and project management tools.
  • Experience with copywriting or content development.
